NEW Changes to Cosmetic Injectables Advertising

Over the last couple of years there have been significant changes made by governing bodies in the nursing and medical professions. Most notably to the cosmetic non-surgical and surgical medical specialities. I believe these changes were implemented to ensure that as professionals in a fast growing industry, we are operating in an ethical manner and protecting our clients well being by providing services that are in their best interests.

The most recent update from the Therapeutic Goods and Administration (TGA) will impact the cosmetic industry and how we communicate to our clients and our audiences on varying social media platforms.

It has been long known that advertising terms and brands such as Botox and Dysport were required to be communicated generically, however new changes will see the industry look for new terminology to replace the below commonly used names and phrases:

‘Wrinkle Reducing Injection’

‘Dermal Filler’

‘Anti-wrinkle Injection’

On our website, social media and other forms of communication we will endeavour to educate and inform you on treatments and services as best as we can by using other appropriate terminology.

I felt it necessary to write this post to inform clients and visitors to our website that changes will be happening and hope this doesn’t confuse or frustrate you when you are looking specifically at cosmetic injectable treatments and pricing.

The best way forward is to come into clinic for a complementary consultation, where treatment options can be discussed and a treatment plan formulated. There is never any pressure to undergo a treatment same day as consultation. Some clients like to go away and read through all the options discussed and rebook at a later date. If you have already given a lot of thought prior to consultation about treatment then I always allow time for treatment same day.

Stay tuned, be aware and trust who is looking after your body!
